Terri Boyd is The Art List’s artist of the month

I was curious yesterday as to why we started getting people referred to Sculptr by TheArtList.com, since we had no affiliation that I was aware of, so I decided to visit the site.  It was then immediately clear to me that people were visiting our site after reading about Terri Boyd, one of our painters, who is The Art List’s artist of the month for October.  Well done, Terri!  Here’s an excerpt from her interview:

TAL: Describe your creative process.

TB: I get an idea of a scenario of personal relationships, and what clothing would be involved. I generally will sketch a very rough thumbnail of the composition, and will then try to set up the still life in my studio, using articles of clothing either from my closet, or friends’ closets. I always shoot a digital photo of the still life as well, to really see how the light and shadows plays out. But I never do an actual drawing of the intended piece. I work out the composition on the canvas, using Prussian blue for entire under-painting and figure out the shadows and light at the very beginning. Sometimes I like the sketchy under-painting just as is and think perhaps I should stop there, but the colors beckon me to continue. I work out the remainder of the painting as I go along..truely a creative process from start to finish, exploring color relationships, composition details, painting techniques, glazes, etc.
